Coral Romain, MSc, BSc (Hons), BEd (Hons), NPQH, GMBPsS
Behavioural Psychologist & SEND Specialist
Trained Mediator – Member of the Society of Mediators
Coral has worked within the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) sector for over 38 years, supporting children and young people aged 3–25 with complex needs, neurodivergence, autism, ADHD, PDA and co-occurring mental health difficulties.
Her career spans classroom teaching, senior leadership roles including Principal and Headteacher, and Director of Integrated Services incorporating therapeutic provision. For the past decade, she has worked as a specialist SEND consultant supporting families, schools and multi-agency teams.
With expertise in EHCP processes, trauma-informed behaviour support, emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), and Preparing for Adulthood pathways, Coral brings both strategic educational leadership and deep relational understanding to her work.
She understands that effective support must consider the whole child — emotionally, socially and environmentally — and works to create structured, compassionate and sustainable solutions.

Coral’s professional foundation combines psychology, education and leadership at a senior level.

Coral’s practice is grounded in Positive Psychology, trauma-informed principles and a neuro-affirming, bio-psychosocial understanding of need.
Behaviour is understood as communication. Emotional regulation, relational safety and environmental context are central to meaningful and sustainable change.
Rather than focusing solely on behaviours, Coral works to understand the whole child, their strengths, experiences, relationships and individual profile. Support is collaborative, structured and responsive, drawing on evidence-based psychological frameworks and educational leadership experience.
The aim is not short-term compliance, but long-term resilience, confidence and wellbeing.

This strand of work focuses on understanding the whole child through structured psychological formulation and systemic analysis. Drawing on Positive Psychology, neuro-affirming principles and a bio-psychosocial framework, Coral works with families, schools and multi-agency teams to identify underlying needs, environmental factors and relational dynamics.
The emphasis is on strategic understanding, integrating psychological theory, educational leadership and lived context to create clear, coherent plans that support sustainable progress across home, school and wider systems.

This strand centres on direct relational and emotionally attuned practice. Using trauma-informed principles, Coral supports children, young people and the adults around them to build emotional regulation, psychological safety and resilience.
The focus is practical and relational, strengthening connection, increasing understanding of behaviour as communication, and developing supportive responses that reduce distress and promote long-term wellbeing.

When communication breaks down, structured mediation provides a calm and constructive way forward. As a Trained Mediator and Member of the Society of Mediators, Coral facilitates respectful conversations that rebuild trust, support agreement and enable positive outcomes for families, schools and organisations.
